Debt Recovery Changes
on Tuesday, 24 June 2014. OVERDUE WATER ACCOUNT DEBT RECOVERY CHANGES
Riverina Water County Council wishes to advise customers of changes to its debt recovery practices from 1st July 2014 for unpaid, overdue water accounts. Council has determined to introduce the use of flow restriction devices, in conjunction with the current practice of disconnecting water supply. It will be within Council's discretion as to which option will be utilised.
Accounts that are overdue and have not been paid, after receiving notification of non-payment, will receive notice of intended Restriction, prior to Council officers physically installing flow restriction devices. Restriction devices will remain in place until accounts have been paid in full. Interest will continue to accrue on overdue accounts and water usage and access charges still apply in accordance with Council's fees and charges schedule.
If customers are experiencing genuine financial hardship, they should seek assistance by making application under Council's Water Billing Hardship Policy, which is available on Council's website www.rwcc.nsw.gov.au
